1. Brown (1916 Rose), Houston (1988 Aloha), Utah (1992 Copper), Baylor (1994 Alamo), Purdue (2001 Sun), Texas (2003 Holiday).

2. Rosenbach, despite passing for 306 yards, was aced out by receiver Victor Wood as MVP of the 1988 Aloha Bowl. Davis earned offensive MVP honors at the 1994 Alamo Bowl, while Bledsoe was named offensive player of the game at the 1992 Copper Bowl – though receiver Phillip Bobo was recognized as the MVP.

3. Rian Lindell booted a 48-yarder in WSU’s 1998 Rose Bowl loss.

4. It was WSU grad Keith Jackson and Michigan dad Bob Griese, whose son Brian quarterbacked the Wolverines to a 21-16 victory.

5. They both made their headquarters at the Beverly Wilshire hotel, Roberts in her role as the hooker who hooks Richard Gere in “Pretty Woman.”

6. Receiver Sammy Moore holds the WSU bowl record for that return. Not quite a year later, he was offensive MVP of the Holiday Bowl for two touchdown catches and a 51-yard punt return, also a Cougar bowl record.

7. Wallace Wade was a lineman on the 1915 Brown team that fell 14-0 to WSU on New Year’s Day in the first modern Rose Bowl, but coached Alabama to a 24-0 victory in 1931.

9. “Brown of Harvard,” often mistakenly referred to as “Tom Brown at Harvard.” WSU coach William “Lone Star” Dietz arranged for the movie work for his players. Starring Tom Moore and Hazel Daly, it was the second of three silent versions of “Brown of Harvard.” The third, released in 1926, was the film debut of John Wayne, who portrayed a Yale football player.

10. Charles Woodson, Michigan (1998 Rose), and Andre Ware, Houston (1988 Aloha). Ware didn’t win his Heisman until 1989.

11. Texas was favored by nine points in the 2003 Holiday Bowl. Not only did the Cougs cover, they beat the Longhorns 28-20.

12. Verne Lundquist handled the play-by-play for CBS. He was in the sixth grade when Price was in first, and lived just a half a mile away before his family moved to Texas.

13. Several members of the 1915 Cougars were training at the Mare Island Marine Corps base that lost to Great Lakes Naval in 1919, the Rose Bowl opting to invite service teams during World War I. They were coached by Lone Star Dietz, who had been let go by WSU after 1917. The six: Benton “Biff” Bangs, Lloyd Gillis, Fred Glover, LeRoy Hanley, Mike Moran and Clarence Zimmerman. Hanley’s brother, Dick, was another key member of the team, but was hospitalized with pneumonia.

14. Linebacker Lewis Bush and receiver C.J. Davis played as true freshmen in the 1988 Aloha Bowl, then as seniors in the 1992 Copper Bowl after both had to sit out the 1990 season.

15. A hook-and-lateral play from quarterback Ryan Leaf to tight end Love Jefferson to running back Jason Clayton had taken the ball to the Michigan 26-yard line. Referee Dick Burleson said Leaf didn’t get the ball spiked in time to stop the clock and allow the Cougars a final shot at the end zone.

16. Prohibition started in Washington state at midnight Jan. 1, 1916.
