Four adults displaced by north Spokane fire

From staff reports
Four adults are staying with family after being displaced by a fire late Thursday in north Spokane. Spokane Fire Department crews responded to 1107 W. Decatur Ave. around 9:45 p.m. They found a single-story wood-frame home with smoke showing from the roof eaves, a news release from the fire department said. All the occupants were reported safely out of the home. The attic fire was brought under control within 30 minutes, the release said. Avista disconnected the power and natural gas until at least this morning. No injuries were reported. Fire investigators determined that the fire originated in a wall with wood framing that was close to the fireplace. Radiant heat from the fireplace ignited the wall, which then extended into the attic, the release said. Damage was estimated at $10,000.
