Freeman’s Goldbach wins football honor

Freeman’s Markus Goldbach shared the 2013 Associated Press State Class 1A Player of the Year honors with Brady Widner of Zillah, it was announced this week.

The junior running back led the Scotties to the school’s first state football championship and an undefeated season.

Goldbach was named AP’s first-team All-State as a running back. Senior teammates Kian Genteman, linebacker, and Max Laib, defensive back, also received first-team honors.

Laib was named to the second team as a running back – meaning both starting running backs in the Freeman backfield received All-State honors. Genteman also was named to the second team as a linebacker, and junior offensive and defensive lineman Teigan Glidewell  was named to the second team at both positions.
