“DOCTOR WHO: THE TIME OF THE DOCTOR”: It’s regeneration time. The show’s annual Christmas special serves as the swan song for Matt Smith, the youngest Time Lord ever. He’ll hand the keys to the Tardis over to Peter Capaldi, but not before donning his bow tie and taking fans on one more wild adventure. The episode has him and Clara (Jenna Coleman) investigating a mysterious signal echoing through space. 9 p.m. Wednesday, BBC America.

SUNDAY: OK, Carrie Underwood has had her fun. Now it’s time for Julie Andrews to show us how it’s done. The beloved 1965 version of “The Sound of Music” returns tonight, still possessing all the allure of raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. 7 p.m., ABC.
SUNDAY: Talk about a major role reversal: Hugh Bonneville goes from playing the wealthy Earl of Grantham to “Mr. Stink.” In this film, he’s a homeless tramp who is befriended by a lonely 12-year-old girl (Nell Tiger Free) with a sad home life. 7 p.m., KSPS; 8 p.m., KCDT.
SUNDAY: “I Am Britney Jean” is a two-hour special that offers a peek at the preparations for Britney Spears’ major stage show in Las Vegas. We can only hope that it’s more electrifying than her stint as an “X Factor” judge. 9 p.m., E!
MONDAY: It’s time to face the music on “The Sing-Off” as the final three groups find out which of them will claim the $100,000 grand prize and a recording contract. 8 p.m., NBC.
MONDAY: Tonight’s Clark Griswold-like winner of “The Great Christmas Light Fight” gets $50,000, which should be just enough to pay off their electric bill. 9 p.m., ABC.
TUESDAY: No, really, we have it on good authority that, every time you watch “It’s a Wonderful Life,” an angel earns his wings. Or something like that. 8 p.m., NBC.
TUESDAY: And now we double-dog dare you to watch all 24 hours of the annual “A Christmas Story” marathon – without the aid of any spiked egg nog. 8 p.m., TBS.
WEDNESDAY: Mickey, Donald, Goofy and all their pals celebrate the holiday at the “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade.” Nick Cannon, Mary J. Blige and Demi Lovato are among the featured performers. 9 a.m., ABC.
THURSDAY: On “The Millionaire Matchmaker,” Patti tries to make a pair of same-sex matches, including one for Rosie Pierri, a 46-year-old sister of a “Real Housewives of New Jersey” cast member. 9 p.m., Bravo.
FRIDAY: The series finale of “Nikita” has a fitting title: “Canceled.” In the episode, our wispy butt-kicker (Maggie Q) seeks deadly revenge against MDK. But Michael (Shane West) urges her to surrender before the military guns her down. 9 p.m., CW.
SATURDAY: “WWE Tribute to the Troops” mixes body slams with music and comedy as the organization pays thanks to the men and women who serve our country. Jeff Dunham and Daughtry are among the performers who won’t be putting people into headlocks. 8 p.m., NBC.
