Engaged Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union are engaged. Wade proposed to his longtime girlfriend Saturday and the actress accepted. They announced the news through social media.

Injured Charlotte Bobcats small forward Jeffery Taylor will miss the rest of the NBA season because of a ruptured right Achilles tendon. A typical recovery involves 4 to 6 months of rehabilitation. Taylor averaged 8.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 26 games.

Died Businessman Marv Wolfenson, who helped bring the NBA back to Minnesota, has died at 87. Wolfenson and Harvey Ratner were the Timberwolves’ original owners when the NBA granted them and the city of Minnesota an expansion franchise that began play in 1989.

• British sportscaster David Coleman has died at 87. Coleman covered 11 Summer Olympics for the BBC and six World Cups. A family statement said he died with family at his bedside following a short illness.

Agreed A person familiar with the deal tells the Associated Press that MLB free-agent outfielder Shin-Soo Choo agreed to a $130 million, seven-year contract with the Texas Rangers. Choo had a .423 on-base percentage with 20 stolen bases and 21 home runs last season for Cleveland.

Transferred Former South Carolina forward Damontre Harris has been granted permission to transfer from No. 16 Florida to anywhere he would like. After two years with the Gamecocks, Harris joined the Gators in 2012 and sat out last season under NCAA transfer rules. He was suspended this fall and never played for coach Billy Donovan.

Announced The Cleveland Browns placed receiver Davone Bess on the reserve/non-football illness list. Bess missed two days of practice this week because of “personal reasons.” The Browns expected Bess to be a playmaker and leader this season, bringing him over from Miami. He leads the NFL with 14 drops while catching 42 passes.
