CCS men, women win third-place games
The CC Spokane men’s and women’s basketball teams won third-place games at tournaments on Sunday.
The Sasquatch (9-4) had a 12-point halftime lead before escaping with an 84-81 victory over the Whatcom Orcas (7-2) in the Everett Crossover.
CC Spokane hit 13 of 27 3-pointers for 48.1 percent, better than it shot from the field as a whole (47.8 percent). Kwinn Hanson scored 24 points, Chase Haack 21 plus nine rebounds, Jared Miller 18 – on six 3-pointers – and Dean Richey 13 along with 11 assists.
The Sasquatch women (6-4) defeated the Grays Harbor Chokers 72-59 at the Yakima Crossover.
Riley Holsinger scored 26 points and Tamar Williams 11 while Morgan Freeman grabbed nine rebounds for CCS.
The Chokers (2-4) hit just 17 of 64 shots (26.6 percent).
