Obituary: Brinson, Megan Magner
Born in Spokane on September 11, 1947 to Dave and Ann Magner, she attended St. Xavier Catholic Grade School and North Central High School (class of 1965).
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Pathology in 1968 from Eastern Washington University followed by a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education in 1986.
She taught in the Parent Education division at Spokane Falls Community College and served as a coordinator for Manito Parent Cooperative Preschool prior to teaching in District 81.
Megan worked as a communication disorders specialist for Medical Lake School District as well as taught kindergarten for Spokane Schools, retiring in 2004 from Indian Trail Elementary.
She was a member of the Spokane Education Association, Phi Delta Kappa educational honorary and was a founding member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority at EWU.
Active in needle arts she was a member of Spokane Falls Needlework Guild.
A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of St. Thomas More Parish prior to moving to Harbor Glen/Clare Bridge for memory care the past four years.
Her family would like to thank Meg Miezwa for being her faithful caregiver and companion over the years and her special caregivers, Leah, Kym, Liz and Dalia (who called her Megano) at Harbor Glen.
Hospice of Spokane was also an incredible source of love and support as we neared the end.

Megan is survived by her daughter Taryn Brinson League and Taryn’s husband Scott League (who Megan loved and embraced as a son) and her adored grand- daughter Clare Michele League (age 7).
She is also survived by her husband Tim Brinson, brother Dennis Magner (Anne), as well as beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Taryn is extremely grateful for Scott’s shoulder to lean on, her incredible aunts, uncles and in-laws for their love and support through all of these years of her mom’s illness as well as her amazing friends and her cherished colleagues and students at Gonzaga Prep High School.
Tim would like to thank his supportive friends, family and his coworkers at Moloney O’Neill.
The vigil rosary will be held on January 3, 2014 at Hennessey Smith Funeral Home at 5:30pm and her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on January 4, 2014 at 4:00pm in the Gonzaga Prep High School Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gonzaga Prep High School or the Spokesman-Review Christmas Bureau Book Fund for 2014.
