Obituary: Smolkowski, Martin “Marty”
Marty slipped away peacefully at his home in Renton, WA with his wife of 35 years by his side, ending his four year valiant struggle against pancreatic cancer.
Marty graduated from Shadle Park HS and went on to become a Master Electrician.
He worked for the Bellevue School District prior to his illness.
Marty married the love of his life and best friend, Lorri Bowman, in 1978.
Marty enjoyed traveling, sailing and attending the America’s Cup 2013, photography and spending time with family and friends.
He lived in California, Japan, Kansas, Guam, Maine, New Jersey and Washington.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy Thompson.
He is survived by his wife Lorri, sisters Susan Lykins (Earl Taylor) and Barbara Cobb and several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as Lorri’s extended family.
A celebration of Marty’s life will be held at The Onion Bar & Grill Northside on Saturday, December 28 from 3:30 - 5:30.
