Obituary: Dotson, Allyn Christine

DOTSON, Allyn Christine “Christy” (Age 63) Christy was born October 4, 1950 in Spokane, WA to Donald Mason and Donna Cross.

She married Merlin Bell and had one child: Gwen De La Rosa (Gabriel) and later married John Dotson and had two children: Joseph (Tania) and Nicholas (Drew).

She was preceded in death by her father and her husband.

Chris lived in Spokane most of her adult life and belonged to the Calvary Chapel Church.

She received her B.A.

Ed degree from Eastern Washington University and MA (suma cum laude) from Gonzaga.

She also taught in the Central Valley School District at Keystone Elementary and Ponderosa Elementary.

Christy’s passion was her children, both at home and at school.

She had patience beyond most people, which made her the best teacher and mentor for young people.

She took great delight in her seven grandchildren, teaching them reading, art, music and assisted them in developing their own unique talents.

Christy loved celebrations!

She was always first to acknowledge Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and she made a special point to cook your favorite foods.

She was a devout Christian and enjoyed an abundant life.

She learned many things such as dancing, fencing, swimming, music, politics, to name a few.

She also loved good movies and was very generous in her giving.

Christy is survived by her mother; children; siblings; Karen Allen (Jerry); Carla Schroder, John Schroder and Donald Mason; as well as her grandchildren: John “Rocco”, Lily, Isla Dotson; Hannah, Daniel, Fiona Dotson and Nathanael De La Rosa.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA 99224.

There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Chapel of Spokane, 511 W. Hastings Rd.

Interment will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park.
