Panthers continue to win
Mead used a big second quarter to put Shadle Park in a hole it couldn’t climb out of in Greater Spokane League girls basketball Thursday at Shadle, winning 70-59.
The Panthers (17-1 overall, 15-1 league) outscored the Highlanders (10-8, 9-7) 23-7 in the second. Mead did a lot of its damage on the offensive boards.
Mead put five players in double-figure scoring – Delany Junkermier (19), Ashlyn Lewey (18), Jade Redmon (12), Mackenzie McPhee (11) and Sue Winger (10).
Shadle was led by Winter Hayes (19), Kaycee Hert (18) and Kendra Winchester (10).
Gonzaga Prep 52, University 46: The visiting Bullpups (17-1, 15-1) kept pace with co-league leader Mead, holding off the Titans (9-9, 8-8).
The Bullpups hurt U-Hi with 15 offensive rebounds.
Otiona Gildon led G-Prep with 13 points and nine rebounds. Teammates Kayla Leland and Laura Stockton had 11 and 10 points.
Kayleigh Valley paced U-Hi with 22 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists and Morgan Hawley had 10 points.
Lewis and Clark 55, Mt. Spokane 49: The Tigers (8-10, 8-8) sprinted to a 36-21 halftime lead, and the visiting Wildcats (11-7, 9-7) couldn’t recover.
Taylor Howlett led LC with 15 points and eight rebounds and Joelle Tampien and Riley Lupfer had 10 points each.
Brooke Reilly led Mt. Spokane with 23 points.
Ferris 47, North Central 36: The Saxons (10-8, 8-8) took care of things in the first half, opening a 30-16 lead at NC (1-17, 1-15).
Brittney Johnson led Ferris with 13 points, six rebounds and three steals while Abby Liss had 12 points and five rebounds.
Megan Dean led NC with 14 points, 10 rebounds and three steals and Jaclyn Bordner had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Central Valley 62, Rogers 34: The Bears (9-9, 7-9) built a 20-point lead in the first half at home.
Madison Hovren led the Bears with 22 points and eight rebounds and Mariah Cunningham had 20 points.
Talia Felice led Rogers (1-17, 0-16) with eight points.
