Obituary: Carpenter, Lorraine

Age 88

CARPENTER, Lorraine (Age 88) Of Spokane, Washington, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013, of natural causes.

Lorraine was born to Aldora and Nicholas Baptista in San Jose, California on July 19, 1924, where she graduated High School while working on the family ranch.

Lorraine was swept off her feet by a decorated Army Sergeant, Don Gillis Carpenter, during World War II.

They wed on July 15, 1945 and were married for 23 years.

Lorraine touched many lives while working as an occupational trainer for Goodwill Industries, where she will be remembered with love and respect by all who knew her.

She loved the outdoors, fishing and camping as well as her many interests that included painting, reading and travel.

She also volunteered at The Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, where she was honored for her years of service at the 50th Anniversary Procession & Rosary, by Bishop William Skylstad, on October 9, 2009.

Above all, Lorraine will be remembered for her unconditional love and fierce protection of her family.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Lorinda, Gaye, Don and Paula and Clay and Kathi, in addition to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Clay Carpenter, 5948 NE Mason, Portland, OR 97218 and will be used for the planned, family memorial service to be held July, 19, 2013.

The family of Lorraine wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Royal Park Care Center as well as all of Lorraine’s longtime friends.
