Elmo was born on January 22, 1926 in Manning, North Dakota to Lewis and Petra Dinehart.
When he was a young man, he moved to Spokane where he raised his family and retired from the Spokane School District.
He was an avid gardener and a member of the Spokane Garden Club.
He also was an accomplished photographer and member of the Spokane Camera Club and the Photographic Society of America.
He won several awards locally and nationally for his photos.
He was preceded in death by his three sisters, Elnora, Hazel and Delores and stepson, Larry.
Survivors include his wife, Velma; a son, Ron Dinehart; and daughters Joyce Green, Lourie Morse and Susan Ricco and Kathy Chmura and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews and their families.
