Man killed, another shot in the arm in Sandpoint

A Spokane man is dead following an altercation in Sandpoint Wednesday evening. Sandpoint police responded to a shots fired call at 726 North Sixth Avenue about 6 p.m., where they found 36-year-old Alberto Tuinzing unresponsive and 35-year-old Anthony Viola with a gunshot wound to his left bicep, according to a Sandpoint Police Department news release. Both Viola and Tuinzing were transported by ambulance to a hospital, where Tuinzing was pronounced dead. Authorities said his cause of death will be released after an autopsy is completed. Viola was treated for his injuries and has been cooperative in the investigation, police said. He was shot with a semi-automatic handgun. The two are related, but the relationship is unclear. One firearm was recovered and police planned to search the residence. The investigation is ongoing and no one has been charged with a crime at this time. The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office and Ponderay Police Department also responded to assist.
