Obituary: Allen (Johnson), Ruth (Annie) Annabelle

Age 89

ALLEN (Johnson), Ruth (Annie) Annabelle Born July 31, 1923, in Douglas, Alaska to Arvid and Tiami Johnson, lost her courageous battle to cancer on February 6, 2013.

She moved to Spokane in 1938 and stayed with friends of the family.

Annie graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1940, and in 1944 she married Edward Allen.

During her 50 years of marriage, her and Ed raised two sons, Robert (Jackie) of Oakland Oregon and Victor (Vivian) of Spokane, Washington.

Annie worked for the Spokane School Districts as a cook for 20 years, plus two years as the National Board District Manager.

She enjoyed her work and was fortunate to be able to travel to several states for her position with the school districts.

She was active all her life and participated with her sons’ sports events, scouts and PTA.

Up until two years ago when she broke her hip, she still enjoyed working in her yard and planting her garden.

She is preceded in death from her husband Ed; Brothers, Arvid and Victor; Sisters Ruby, Violet and Hilda.

She leaves behind her sons; grandchildren Brad, Heather, Anna, Misty, Tami and Jennifer.

Great-Grandchildren Ava, Fiona and Brooklynn.

The family wishes to thank and bless Kim and Mary and Jim with Hospice of Spokane for making her last months easier to bear.
