The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that the man who died in a fire north of Spokane on Tuesday was the man who lived at the mobile home. Dennis P. McGurk, 52, died as a result of smoke inhalation and burns, according to a news release. Firefighters were called to the mobile home at 6717 N. Julia St., not far from the current south entrance of the North Spokane freeway, just before 10 a.m. Tuesday. Kevin McCarty, a neighbor, said McGurk’s brother discovered the fire when he stopped by to check on him. Spokane Fire Department and Spokane County Fire District 9 crews fought the blaze. Doug Bleeker, deputy chief of Spokane County Fire District 9, said Thursday that cause of the fire is under investigation.
