GUNTER, Verl A.

(Age 90) Passed away January 29, 2013 in Walla Walla, WA.

Verl Gunter, former Spokane Valley resident, was born on August 28, 1922, in Weston, Idaho, to Andrew C. and Mary Gunter.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

While training at Farragut, Idaho, he met Marcella Lavigne.

They were married November 19, 1944, after he returned from service in the Pacific.

Verl was an independent businessman, owning Colfax IGA (later Colfax Grocery) and Maytag coin laundries in Colfax, Moscow, St. Maries, and Spokane.

Verl is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marcella, at home in College Place, WA; his daughters Cheryl (Roger) Cockerline, Walla Walla, and Rosemary (Roger) Knapp, Camas, WA; grandsons Andy (Darin) Knapp and Elliot Knapp; and great-grandson Dylan Knapp.
