More than pound of heroin seized in South Hill raid
More than a pound of heroin was seized by police today during a raid on a suspected drug ring, authorities said.
Four suspects were taken into custody and $2,000 cash also was confiscated when detectives searched the lower South Hill home in the 1400 block of South Grand Boulevard, according to the Spokane Police Department. The probe has been under way by the department’s Special Investigative Unit since early last month.

Michael A. Schadler, 51, and Heather S. Brannan, 33, were arrested on charges of possessing heroin with intent to deliver, police said. Shawn C. Quaintance, 35, was arrested on a charge of possessing heroin, and Joel J. Simpson, 27, was taken into custody on unrelated warrants.
According to the police department, detectives were tracking a mid-level drug ring operating in Spokane. Estimated street value of the seized heroin is $35,000.
