Vikings oust defending champion Bengals
Sydney Williams scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as host Coeur d’Alene capitalized on a strong third quarter to eliminate the two-time defending Idaho 5A State champion Lewiston Bengals (16-7) in a Region I playoff girls basketball game.
Madison Sumner added 11 points and Caelyn Orlandi had seven points and five steals for the Vikings (18-5), who advanced to a state play-in game Saturday, 3 p.m., versus Boise in Grangeville.

Moscow 37, Sandpoint 31: The Bears (8-11) toppled the Bulldogs (14-9) to advance to the state tournament. No other details were reported.

Priest River 36, Kellogg 26: Steffie Pavey scored 11 of her game-high 15 points in the second half as the Spartans (15-7) used a 13-2 first quarter and a strong finish to defeat the Wildcats (10-9).
Priest River advances to a state play-in game against Kimberly on Saturday in McCall at 2 p.m. Kellogg was eliminated.
2A District I-II
Coeur d’Alene Charter 41, St. Maries 26: Jackyln Jensen dropped in a game-high 15 points, Lexi Turkenburg contributed 13 and the Panthers (18-4) defeated the Lumberjacks (4-15) in a loser-out game at Kootenai.
CdA Charter next plays Marsing at 5 p.m. Saturday in a state play-in game in Grangeville.
1A District I
Wallace 50, Lakeside (ID) 38: Emily Nelson and Morgan Hill combined to score 24 and lead the Miners (10-10) past the Knights (12-9) and tie the best-of-3 series played at Lake City HS in Coeur d’Alene.
The teams play again at 7:30 tonight at the same location in a loser-out matchup that sends the winner to a state play-in game at St. Maries on Saturday.
1A District II
Kootenai 34, Clark Fork 23: The Warriors (4-18) beat the Wampus Cats (5-12) to advance to the state tournament. No other details were reported.
West Valley 56, Deer Park 14: Erin Higbie scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Janae Martin scored 11 and the Eagles (15-5, 11-1) used their full-court press to handle the Stags in Deer Park and finish as co-champion with Pullman.
Clarkston 61, Cheney 42: Jaclyn Meyers scored 15 points, Sequoia Swan added 11 and the visiting Bantams (5-15, 3-9) quickly ran away from the Blackhawks. Samantha Sheffles and Coreen Labish each scored 12 points to lead Cheney (7-12, 4-8).
2B Subregional play-in
St. George’s 52, Waitsburg-Prescott 21: Brenna Russell led all scorers with 16 as the Dragons (12-13) forced 20 turnovers to defeat the Cardinals in a loser-out game in Waitsburg.
Hannah Kwasman and Alex Wert each chipped in 10 points for the Dragons, which earned the fourth seed and will face Reardan at 7 p.m. Saturday in Waitsburg.
District 9 1B
LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 50, Rosalia 44: Jed Zimmer scored 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter and the Tigercats overcame a seven-point deficit in the final 3 minutes to beat the visiting Spartans.
Craig Nelson led all scorers with 24 points for Rosalia (11-10), which plays a loser-out game Tuesday against the loser of Colton and Touchet in Colfax.
LWK (16-5) plays at Garfield-Palouse on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Pomeroy 35, Touchet 27: Sophomore Colt Mayfield scored 10 points to help lead the Pirates (15-6) past the visiting Indians (7-10).
Pomeroy plays again Saturday at 6 p.m. in Colton.
Pomeroy plays the loser of Garfield-Palouse and LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus on Tuesday in Colfax.
West Valley 56, Deer Park 44: Jake Love led the way with 11 points as the Eagles pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure the victory over the host Stags. Terryce Duke chipped in 10 points and Brady Bergman had eight points and six rebounds for WV (14-6, 7-5). Reese Ferguson led the Stags (4-16, 0-12) with 13 points and Nathanel and Caleb Guske each added 10.
Clarkston 60, Cheney 41: DePaul Blunt tallied 14 points and Ryan Adams added 10 as the Bantams controlled the paint to cruise past the host Blackhawks. HD Wyborney led Cheney (10-10, 6-6) with 13 points and eight rebounds. Zac Dwyer bolstered Clarkston (14-6, 8-4) with eight points and Carson Holman scored seven.
