Obituary: Morton, Donald E.

MORTON, Donald E. 1918 - 2013 Don passed away on February 6, 2013 at the age of 94.

He was born on the family farm south of Lamont, WA and lived there until he retired to Sprague, WA.

He graduated from Lamont High School and attended WSU as a business major for one year.

Unfortunately, his father passed away so he needed to return to the farm where he grew wheat and barley, and raised cattle for over 50 years.

Don was a leader in his community.

He was a lifetime member of the Lamont Grange.

He served as an insurance agent for 46 years, and was on the Board of Directors for the Grange Insurance Association.

He also served as president of GIA for eight years.

Don was a Lamont School Board member, served on the board of directors for the Lamont Grain Growers and was area coordinator of the WSU Alumni Association.

Don and his wife, Darlene, enjoyed traveling and leading tour groups.

As avid WSU sports fans, they attended many basketball and football games and occasionally traveled with the football team.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, in 2004.

He is survived by his children Linda (Wayne) Kelly of Auburn, WA, Bob (Glorian) Morton of Lamont, Maureen (Ralph) Sharp of Liberty Lake, WA and Meredith (Jim) Worley of Penryn, CA; his seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 11, at 12:00 at the Sprague Community Church.

A private family burial at Macabee Cemetery will precede the service.

Please join the family for a potluck lunch following the service.

In lieu of flowers charitable donations may be made to the Lamont Community Church or the Maccabee Cemetery in Sprague, WA.
