The Lewiston boys built a nine-point first-half lead and held on late to beat Post Falls 49-47 Friday night in an Inland Empire League 5A regular-season basketball finale at Post Falls.
Rafa Hewett-Steiger made four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points for the Bengals (6-14, 3-3).
The Trojans (8-12, 1-5) got 11 points from Dalton Thompson and 10 points from Max McCullough.
Post Falls rallied in the second half but could not complete the comeback thanks in large part to poor free-throw shooting. The Trojans made 6 of 21 free throws.
Inland Empire 4A
Lakeland 51, Sandpoint 38: Matt Horne knocked down four 3-pointers and scored 14 points to guide the Hawks (10-10, 2-2) past the host Bulldogs (2-17, 0-4).
Alex Opland added 12 points for Lakeland, which took control in the second half, outscoring Sandpoint 27-16.
Tyrel Derrick handed out seven assists and Scott Simpson pulled down eight rebounds for the Hawks.
Thomas Edwards scored 11 points and Chase Rodriguez added 10 for Sandpoint.
Lakeland was 2 of 8 from the free-throw line while the Bulldogs converted all seven of their attempts.
St. Maries 55, Bonners Ferry 35: The Lumberjacks (11-7) went on an overwhelming fourth-quarter run and raced past the visiting Badgers (5-11).
St. Maries outscored Bonners Ferry 29-4 in the final period.
Warren Joiner scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Austin Linnemeyer added 10 points for the Lumberjacks. St. Maries’ Jordan Stapleton and Austin Cordell each dished out three assists.
Bonners Ferry was led by Kyler Rice and Ryan Farrens, who combined for 19 points.
