Streaking Gonzaga women reach 20 wins
Haiden Palmer and Keani Albanez scored 17 points apiece Saturday as Gonzaga (20-5, 10-1 West Coast Conference) ran past Loyola Marymount 70-56 at Los Angeles for its eighth consecutive win and seventh consecutive 20-win season.
The Bulldogs dashed to a 15-0 lead and held the Lions (9-15, 3-8) scoreless for the first 5 minutes, 32 seconds. Palmer and Albanez combined for 19 points as GU took a 39-16 halftime lead.
Shelby Cheslek added 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for GU.
GU’s winning streak began after a 54-51 loss at Saint Mary’s on Jan. 10. The Gaels (8-2 WAC), who visit Gonzaga on Thursday, are alone in second place after Saturday’s 64-52 win over BYU (7-3 WCC).
