Born Ruby Montana James, January 17, 1918, Ruby grew up on a Montana ranch with her four siblings — she was the last survivor.
Ruby graduated high school in Missoula, MT, then completed Kinman Business University in Spokane, WA.
In Spokane, Ruby was Office Manager and Bookkeeper for Home Builders Service for many years.
She was a past President and long-time active member of the International Credit Women’s Club.
Ruby later owned and operated The Yardstick, a fabric and notions store on Garland.
After retiring, Ruby served as a Senior Intern, then Staff Person in the Washington State Legislature, in Olympia.
She was an inspiring mother and friend, who always encouraged others to succeed.
In 1999, Ruby moved to Portland, OR, to be near her daughter and son-in-law.
Ruby’s memory will be cherished, especially for her independent spirit and generosity.
The family requests that remembrances be donations in Ruby’s name to the American Cancer Society.
