Obituary: Van Horne, David R.

Age 71

VAN HORNE, David R. Passed away peacefully after a long illness on February 2, 2013 at his home with family present.

He was born to Harold and Grace Van Horne on January 30, 1942 in Spokane WA.

He graduated from Riverside High School and married his high school sweetheart in 1960.

He spent 18 years as a Respiratory Therapist with 15 of those years in Jacksonville, FL.

Upon returning to Spokane in 1980 he worked in the cabinet business until eventually going to work at Federal Express as a courier and CSA agent from which he retired after 18 years.

After retirement he wasn’t ready to slow down and held other jobs; the favorite of which was as “Santa” at the CDA mall and other events including the Air Nat’l Guard Christmas parties and visiting nursing homes.

He was very talented and was a ‘Jack of all trades and master of most’.

Enjoyed playing his guitar, singing Karaoke, woodworking, motorcycles and old cars.

He was preceded in death by both parents and his older sister, Janet.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elaine, their son Rod (Jen), two grandchildren, Brittney and Quinton, his sister, Merrie Lynn Higgins (Sam), his brother Steve (Kellie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by all.

At his request there will be no service.
