Gonzaga freshman Raychelle Santos shot a final-round 73 to take medalist honors at The Gold Rush women’s golf tournament Tuesday in Yorba Linda, Calif.
The Bulldogs were second overall, finishing 10 strokes behind tournament-host Long Beach State.
Santos finished with a three-round total of 224 over the par-72, 6,077-yard Yorba Linda Country Club. Long Beach State’s Shawnee Martinez took second place, one shot behind Santos.
Santos entered the final round in fourth place and seven shots behind leader Emma Henrickson of San Diego State. Henrickson played the first six holes at 6-over par and finished with a final-round 82.
Gonzaga senior Victoria Fallgren shot a final-round 76 and finished in fourth place with a three-round total of 230.
Washington State made a move on the final day, climbing from 11th place to sixth. The Cougars shot a 13-over 301, the lowest single-round score of the tournament.
WSU freshman Rachel Lewis and junior Mallory Kent both shot 2-over 74s and sophomore Kristen Rue shot 75.
