Obituary: Miles, Beth J.

Age 88

MILES, Beth Joane (Wideman) Wilbraham, MA - Beth Miles died peacefully on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the age of 88.

Born in Spokane, Washington on August 12, 1924, she was the daughter of Merrill and Melba (Goramson) Wideman.

She was a graduate of Gonzaga High School and went on to obtain her Degree in Nursing from Sacred Heart Nursing School.

Beth was the Head Nurse at Valley Hospital in Fresno, California retiring in 1982.

Prior to that, she worked as an oncology nurse and cardiac care nurse.

Beth was an avid Bridge player and also took pleasure in golfing, being a member at Wilbraham Country Club.

Beth loved camping and fishing and enjoyed her life in Alaska and Arizona with her lifetime companion for the last 14 years, Griffin Quinton.

She was incredibly talented with needle point and any crafts involving sewing.

Her husband Robert F. Miles died in 1995.

Beth leaves her beloved daughter, Sherrill Caruana and her husband William of Wilbraham, her grandsons, David, Jonathan and William Caruana, her brother Gerald Wideman and his wife Lee of Spokane, WA, her sister-in-laws Evalyn Wideman and Anita (Tootsie) Wideman, and many nieces and nephews in Spokane.

Sadly, she was predeceased by her son, Robert Miles, Jr., and her brothers, Robert, Jay, Cameron, and Donald Wideman.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt.

Carmel Church for a Funeral Mass for Beth.

Interment will be held at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery, Spokane, Washington.

Calling hours will be held at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust St., Springfield on Wednesday evening from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
