Suspected drug home nets arrests

From Staff Reports

Two men were arrested Thursday after a deputy sheriff witnessed what he said looked like drug transactions outside of a reputed Spokane Valley drug house.

Spokane County sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Howe was watching a home in the 300 block of North Argonne Road, where he had investigated several incidents involving drugs, stolen vehicles, assaults with weapons and a drive-by shooting in the past.

Howe said he saw multiple hand-to-hand transactions with people in the driveway and requested backup. He said the suspects left the home in three different vehicles. Howe pulled over Daymond Nearpass, 26, and found a golf-ball-size amount of what later tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as a scale and several clear plastic baggies.

Deputy Tanya Walker attempted to pull over a car that had left the residence driven by Ronald Hanson, 29. Walker reported that Hanson failed to stop and led her in pursuit westbound on Interstate 90 at high speed. Hanson left the freeway at the Broadway exit, and another deputy who was in the area used a driving maneuver to stop Hanson’s car.

Nearpass was booked into jail on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Hanson was booked into jail on a felony eluding charge and an unrelated driving with a suspended license warrant.
