Agreed Baseball is set to finish its first arbitration shutout. Cincinnati Reds pitcher Homer Bailey and San Diego Padres left-hander Clayton Richard agreed to one-year contracts Saturday, making it all but certain there will be no salary arbitration hearings this year for the first time since the process began in 1974. Not one of the 133 players who filed went to arbitration. Only one remains scheduled for a hearing and those sides already have a deal pending a physical.
Throwing New York Yankees ace CC Sabathia has thrown off a mound for the first time since having had arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone spur from his left elbow last October. The left-hander threw 29 pitches during the session and said he felt good.
