Obituary: Davis, Msgt Clarence Chester “Bud”, Ret.

“Bud” (Age 84) Of Spokane Valley, WA, passed into the arms of his loving Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 9, 2013 after a short battle with cancer.

He was born as the first of five children to John Henry and Ethel Davis on December 16, 1928, in Harriman, Tennessee, where he grew up on the family farm.

After attending Tennessee Polytechnic Institute, in Cookeville, TN, he joined the US Air Force.

MSGT(Retired) Clarence Chester Davis served in the USAF Strategic Air Command (SAC) from 1951-1977 as a Management Analysis Technician.

During his first assignment to Fairchild AFB, he met and married his sweetheart, Evon Lavender, on April 10, 1954.

Bud and Evon, along with their five children, made great memories together at numerous Air Force bases across the continental US, in Hawaii, and on Guam.

Following his retirement from the USAF, Bud served as caretaker for Millwood Community Presbyterian Church from 1979-1993.

He was a skillful gardener, woodcrafter, and down home Southern cook.

He is most admired as a devoted, faithful, and caring husband, father, and grandfather.

Bud is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Evon; five children, Kathy (Don) Gentili, Nancy (Ron) Fechner, Steve (Cindy) Davis; and twins, Bonnie (Steve) Obert, and Barbara (Tom) Keith; eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

“Buddy” is preceded in death by his brother, Albert Davis.

His three sisters, Mae Kerley, Betty Robinette, and Emma Hood, still reside near their childhood home in Tennessee.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Millwood Community Presbyterian Church, 3223 North Marguerite Road.
