John was born on November 12, 1925 in Spokane and immediately after his graduation from North Central High School in 1944 entered the US Army until 1946 when he was released from millitary service as a Tech 5.
He then attended Washington State University and graduated in 1950.
He was recalled to active military duty shortly after graduation and served in Korea and Japan.
He was discharged from the Army in 1953 as a 1st Lt and returned to Spokane.
In 1954, John became employed as a civilian with the US Army and returned to Japan.
During his civil service career, John served in Mainland Japan, Okinawa and spent over two years in Vietman.
In 1980 he married Tatsuko Kudo in Tokyo, Japan.
John retired from civil service in 1983 and returned to his home in Spokane.
During his civil service career, John remained in the inactive reserve retiring as a Captain in 1985.
He is survived by his wife Tatsuko in Spokane, an adopted son, Edward Kazama, his wife Mitsuyo and son Ryugho who reside in Hokkaido, Japan.
John will be sadly missed by his family, neighbors, and many friends.
Cremation services will be performed by Neptune Society and internment will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace at a later date.
