Chipper staying busy

Chipper Jones has reported to camp for the Atlanta Braves. No, he’s not coming back. The retired third baseman is spending a few days at spring training in Kissimmee, Fla., as a special instructor. He was on the field Sunday, working with former teammates and shrugging off those who kept calling him “coach.” Jones says he thought the first week of spring training might be tough. It hasn’t been. He hasn’t missed the game nearly as much as he expected, staying busy with his kids, a new romantic relationship, business ventures, the banquet circuit and his ranch. Jones is impressed with Atlanta’s big offseason moves but says it’s way too early to declare the Braves the team to beat in the National League East. – Associated Press
