Obituary: Cannata, Frank Robert

Age 88

CANNATA, Frank Robert (Age 88) Passed away on February 14, 2013 in Spokane, WA.

He was born on October 8, 1924 to Sam and Marietta Cannata.

He is survived by two sons, Frank Jr. of Australia and Sam (Marla) Cannata of Spokane; two grandsons, Matthew (Katie) Cannata and Shawn Cannata of Spokane; sisters, Rose Aquino of Spokane, Elaine (Maury) Flynn of Spokane and Jean (Don) Williams of Spokane; brothers, Robert (Judy) of Spokane and George (Sue) of Spokane and several nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his two previous wives.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Louise; stepmother, Yolanda and step grandmother, Teresa.

Frank graduated from North Central High School and Kinman Business College.

He was in the restaurant business since he was 15 years old.

Frank went to work as a fountain attendant and bus boy at the old Aster Restaurant while still a student at North Central High School.

He continued to work at the restaurant after he finished high school and was there for a total of seven years.

He then obtained a job in the superintendent’s office of the Great Northern Railway and six months later became an IBM operator at Potlatch Forests headquarters.

After 18 months he went into the restaurant business for himself in 1950 when he opened the Burger King on North Division.

After more than five years there, he bought and operated the White Goose Restaurant on West Third for three years.

He managed the Blue Bowl restaurant at Thirtieth and Grand then when Lindy’s opened in the Great Western Building’s remodeling project.

Frank took over management of the 50 seat cafĂŠ.

After Lindy’s he owned Carlson’s Friendly corner which was directly south of Lindy’s.

He was also a partner in an office building in the 4100 block on North Division.

He was the manager of the Town and County Restaurant until he retired in 1994.

Franks family was his hobby; he loved his family and loved to spend time with all of them.

Franks family would like to thank the staff at North Central Care Central for the outstanding care he received for the 1 ½ years he was there.

Especially to the staff that showed care and compassion to him and his family in Franks final days.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 12 Noon until 7 PM, followed by a Rosary Service at 7 PM, both at the funeral home.

A Funeral Mass will take place Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 1 PM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

Private interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Aloysius Catholic Church or The Knights of Columbus.
