Obituary: Logan, Lee Jay

LOGAN, Lee Jay Passed away peacefully on February 15, 2013 at the age of 81.

Lee was born to Ellis and Jennie Logan in Idaho Falls, ID.

He enlisted in the Air Force and served honorably in combat in the Korean War as a flight engineer.

He met his wife of 58 years, Gretchen Sengle, while on leave in the Pocono Mountains of PA and they were married in Norfolk, VA. Lee spent most of his life in Ukiah, CA where he rose through the ranks of the California Division of Forestry to become a Captain.

Lee was foreman of the Air Attack Fire Base in Ukiah when he retired in 1985.

He and Gretchen then spent many winters in their RV at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and in Arizona.

Lee was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the CDFEA.

In 2007, Lee and Gretchen moved to Fairwood Retirement Village in Spokane, WA where he served as President of the Residents’ Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Vernon, Donald and Gene; and his sister, Lucille.

He is survived by Gretchen; three children: Katrina Ballard of Ukiah, CA, Peggy (Phil) Arendt and Willard (Stephanie) Logan of Spokane, WA; grandchildren: Alyssa Ballard, Peter (Sally), Eric, and Michelle Arendt, Adrian Lerma and Elijah Logan; and his nieces and nephews.

Interment will take place at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery.

Friends will gather to remember Lee at Fairwood Retirement Village on Wed, Feb 20, at 11:00 AM.
