Obituary: Dellwo, Alice Jean

Age 87

DELLWO, A. Jean Passed away on February 12, 2013 in Spokane.

Mom was born in Seltice, WA on the family farm December 10, 1925 to Homer and Alice Thompson.

She attended Tekoa High School, but before graduating she dropped out of school to marry the love of her life, Frank Dellwo.

Mom and dad remained married up until Dad’s passing in 1996.

After a short time of farming in the Tekoa area Mom and Dad moved to Alaska and then returned to Washington in the fall of 1947.

They farmed for five more years.

Then they settled in Spokane in 1952.

Mom was a homemaker for most of her life.

She took care of not only her family but, also, helped care for a large number of nieces and nephews.

She worked as a seamstress at Pacific Trails for a short time.

Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, and gardening.

(But to us the gardening was a lot of work.)

She and Dad were members of three different square dance clubs, and bowling leagues.

When getting a chance, they loved to go camping and water skiing with family and friends.

In the later years of her life she loved Wii bowling.

If you were visiting with her and the activities director came to tell her it was time for Wii bowling, she would most likely tell you goodbye, she would leave the room and leave you talking to yourself.

That was her game!!!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her parents, five brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her brother Hugh Thompson of Spokane Valley, WA, one daughter Barbara Price (Gene) of Mead, WA, three sons Larry (Janet) Dellwo of Vancouver, WA, Don (Susan) Dellwo of Spokane, WA, and Dan Dellwo of Spokane Valley, WA; five grandsons Bert Price (Suzzie), Joe Dellwo (Adrienne) of Spokane Valley, WA, Russ Dellwo (Amy) of Battleground, WA, Randy Dellwo (Tabatha) of Vancouver, WA, Kurt Dellwo Corvallis, OR; three granddaughters Sabrina Christensen (Mike) of Puyallup, WA, Bonnie Hombel of Spokane Valley, WA, and Mandy Cline Mission, KS; eleven great grandsons; two great granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N Pines Road, Spokane Valley.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00am at Spokane Memorial Gardens, 5909 S Cheney-Spokane Rd, Spokane, WA, 99224.
