Firefighter briefly trapped in burning home

A firefighter was briefly trapped in the basement of a burning home early this morning in Diamond Lake, north of Spokane.

KHQ reports he was rescued and treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

The homeowner who had been remodeling was awakened by the crackling sound of the fire and escaped unharmed.

About 30 volunteer firefighters from the south Pend Oreille district responded.
