Taelor Karr matched her career high with 27 points Thursday night as Gonzaga’s women’s basketball team clinched at least a share of its ninth consecutive West Coast Conference title with a 70-55 win at Santa Clara (13-13, 5-8). The Bulldogs (23-5, 13-1) won their 11th consecutive game and lead BYU (19-7, 10-3) by two games in the loss column. Gonzaga has two WCC games remaining, including Saturday afternoon at BYU, while BYU has three left. Saint Mary’s (17-8, 9-4) had been tied with BYU for second place, but the Gaels lost at San Diego (18-8, 10-4) on Thursday. Karr, who also scored 27 against San Diego on Jan. 3, shot 10 for 19 from the field, including 6 of 9 on 3-pointers. She had back-to-back 3-pointers to give Gonzaga a 35-24 lead with 1:25 left in the first half, and sparked a 16-0 second-half run with eight points, including a 3-pointer and three-point play. GU’s Haiden Palmer and Sunny Greinacher combined for 24 points and 12 rebounds.
