Man shot in Spokane Valley Thursday night

A man was shot in Spokane Valley late Thursday in an incident that may be gang-related, authorities said.

One man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Deputy Mark Gregory, a spokesman for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was shot following a confrontation that likely began near Sullivan Road and Broadway Avenue. Two vehicles then traveled to the area of Indiana Avenue and Evergreen Road, Gregory said.

The victim’s vehicle pulled over and stopped. The suspect vehicle drove up and at least one shot was fired at the victim before the suspect’s vehicle drove away.

No one has been arrested. Deputies responded around 11:20 p.m.

Due to the violence of the crime and possible gang ties, the Spokane Violent Crime and Gang Enforcement Team was called out to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call (509) 625-GANG (4264) or to go to the website www.stopspokanegangs.org.

The Spokane Violent Crime and Gang Enforcement Team is comprised of county, city, state and federal agencies.
