Obituary: Elfin, Dorothy

Age 83

ELFIN, Dorothy Resident of Livermore, CA Jan. 15, 1930 - Feb. 18, 2013 Dorothy Elfin passed away Monday after a battle with lung cancer.

She profoundly touched everyone graced by her presence.

Dot is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Rodman; by her children Andrea, Susan, and Jonathan; by her grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Sarah, Grace, and Benjamin; and by her brother Alan Green.

Her sister, Arlene Tarr, preceded her in death.

Before moving to Livermore in November, Dorothy and Rod lived in Spokane WA, Pullman WA, and Livingston, NJ.

A talented pianist, Dot taught hundreds of students until the age of 81.

She was adored and admired by her family, many friends, and students.

Dorothy won friends and influenced people, but without intent.

She inspired all of us with her delightful energy, generosity, strength, humor, and example.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Sunflower Hill, a nonprofit organization working to create a retirement like community for special needs adults.
