Lyle Witherrite, of Joseph, Ore., braves the snowy weather while visiting Coeur d’Alene on Friday.
Kai Morimoto keeps warm in a steaming hot tub Friday as she awaits her 16th plunge of the day into the icy waters of Liberty Lake. Morimoto was among a dozen people who raised at least $650 to support Special Olympics of Washington and was offered a chance to take a plunge every half-hour from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. “The morning was easier, then it got harder as the wind picked up,” Morimoto said. More than 200 people are registered for a polar plunge at noon today at the Liberty Lake County Park, 3707 S. Zephyr Road. The fundraising goal of $50,000 is established by law enforcement agencies.
