1B boys basketball: Pomeroy ousts Odessa-Harrington
Tanner Feider scored 21 points and Pomeroy pulled away in the third quarter and held on to beat Odessa-Harrington 60-52 in the opening round of the State 1B boys basketball tournament on Saturday in Walla Walla.
The win secured the Pirates a trip to next week’s final eight at the Spokane Arena.
Tyson Feider added 14 points for Pomeroy (18-7), which outscored Odessa-Harrington 14-8 in the third to take a nine-point lead into the final quarter.
Justin Hunt scored 14 points and Stetson Sanford added 11 for the Titans (16-8), who were eliminated.

Soap Lake 52, Valley Christian 50: Jason Korneychuk scored 18 points and Ben Winters made 3 of 5 from beyond the arc and added 15 points as the Eagles edged the Panthers (15-10) at Eastmont High School in East Wenatchee.
Soap Lake outscored Valley Christian 13-7 in the second quarter and did just enough to hold off the Panthers, who rallied back in the second half.
Nick Cox scored 21 points and Grant Marchand added 16 for Valley Christian, which saw its season come to a close.
Valley Christian fell to Almira/Coulee-Hartline in last year’s State 1B championship game.
LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 57, Wellpinit 52: The Tigercats (19-5) secured a spot in this week’s final eight at the Spokane Arena, which begins Thursday, with a win over the Redskins (17-7) in Walla Walla.
Wellpinit was eliminated.
