Deputies investigating body west of Medical Lake

Spokane County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating what they are currently calling a suspicious death after an adult male was found dead in a ditch near the intersection of two rural roads west of Medical Lake. Deputy Mark Gregory said dispatchers received a call at about 11:45 a.m. today asking deputies to check on the welfare of a man seen in a ditch near the intersection of West Hallett and South Strangland roads. Deputies arrived and found a deceased adult male in the ditch. “We have very little information,” he said. “We are calling it a death investigation because (major crimes detectives) really don’t know what is going on. There is not any specific, obvious cause of death. We are looking into whether foul play was at hand or something else.” Gregory said he was not immediately aware of any missing person reports in that area. Gregory did not know the man’s name or age, but likely would not have released that information this early in the investigation. “With everything going on in the last three days, I’m sure no one has gone in and run that information,” Gregory said. “I have a feeling we won’t get any more information on this until the autopsy is performed.”
