Goal is total gun ban
Let’s cut to the chase.
The anti-gun lobby, the Democratic Party, the media, including The Spokesman-Review, want a total ban on all privately owned firearms. They lie when they say that they want “common sense” and “reasonable” guns laws (“Shea, minister debate gun laws,” Feb. 14).
Likewise, the United Nations, under the guise of fighting terrorism, wants civilian disarmament globally.
We are following England’s footsteps, exactly. England first banned so-called assault rifles. Then, they outlawed any firearm that could fire multiple rounds. Next, they banned all handguns and, finally, most shotguns. This is the same England that begged America’s gun owners to send them their personal firearms as the Nazis were preparing to invade in 1941.
Under the auspices of the National Rifle Association, thousands of privately owned American firearms were shipped for England’s defense.
Scores of letter writers have asked why we need military-type rifles and high-capacity magazines. I’ll give one very compelling answer: defense of self and nation. That’s really what the Second Amendment is all about.
Watching the duplicitous machinations of the anti-gun lobby and its regional extremists reminds me of the classic movie “Ship of Fools.”
