NIC women lose, men win
Patrice Toston scored 22 points and the Southern Idaho women’s basketball team beat North Idaho College 64-53 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game on Saturday in Twin Falls, Idaho.
It was the last conference game of the season before the Region 18 tournament, which begins on Thursday in Coeur d’Alene with NIC serving as tournament host.
The Golden Eagles (19-11, 12-3) made 14 of 18 free throws in the second half to keep the Cardinals (27-3, 12-3) from making up ground.
SIC’s Sarah Viehweg had 11 points and Julia Dufurrena 10 and 14 rebounds.

The teams had already secured the top two seeds to the Region 18 tournament and with it have earned first-round byes.
Men
Mikey Hope scored 16 points and North Idaho College built a comfortable first-half lead and held on late to beat Southern Idaho 69-56 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game in Twin Falls.
Chris Sarbaugh added 12 points and six rebounds and Jalil Abdul-Bassit chipped in 11 points for North Idaho (26-4, 13-2).
The Cardinals will be the second seed in the Region 18 tournament, earning a first-round bye.
