Obituary: Gilmore, Evelyn Loraine

Age 81

GILMORE, Evelyn Loraine (Age 81) Evelyn Loraine Gilmore (Loraine) passed away February 15, 2013.

Loraine was born October 18, 1931 to Carl and Marjorie Saunders in Spokane, WA.

She attended Garden Springs School and graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1949.

At Sacred Heart School of Nursing she gained skills and friends she would keep for over 60 years.

She graduated in 1952 and worked as an RN in various capacities.

In 1978, she became a certified occupational health nurse, and in 1989 she retired from Kaiser Mead where she had supervised the medical dept.

In 1953 her younger sister Gloria coerced her into driving to Silver Lake beach before work.

Fate intervened, however, as her car would not start at the end of the day.

Frantic to reach work in time, she enlisted the help of a young airman she had met that day.

Bob was able to start the car, and Loraine was so grateful that she married him the following Spring.

April 3rd would have marked their 59th anniversary.

Loraine gave birth to Lynn in 1955 in Spokane and Bobby in 1963 in Berlin, Germany, where Bob was teaching English.

Throughout her life Loraine was energetic, adventurous , and generous.

She loved traveling with her husband and family, planned luncheons for friends, and was a true caregiver to any and all who needed help.

She will be greatly missed.

Loraine was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gloria Noah, and her son Robert S. Gilmore.

She is survived by husband Robert L. Gilmore, daughter Lynn Beu (Doug), grandchildren Jessie Horner, Brian and Devin Beu, Aleah, Lauren, and Grant Gilmore, four great-grandchildren, niece Lauri Keener, and daughter-in-law Atania Gilmore.

A private memorial service is pending .

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vanessa Behan Crisis Clinic.
