Obituary: Ivie, Janet Mildred (Jones)

Age 85

IVIE, Janet Mildred (Jones) (Age 85) Mom passed away peacefully on February 19 at the age of 85, surrounded by family after a prolonged struggle with multiple illnesses.

Her pain was eased by her wonderful doctor and Hospice of Spokane.

Born November 28, 1927 to Charles Shelton and Mildred (Thompson) Jones, she lived her first 30 years in Montana, graduating from U of M with her Masters in Music.

She started teaching in 1945 in rural schools, and continued to teach until her retirement from Central Point, Oregon, at age 62.

She met and married Charles Ivie, her husband of 45 years, while teaching in Billings.

She was an accomplished musician who played the organ for church, accompanied several young musicians on the piano, and continued to play until the week she died in spite of her dislike of performing.

She was also a gifted artist, who’s watercolor paintings hang in many homes across the US.

She also illustrated several books for local authors.

She often said that her greatest love was her family.

She was so proud of her daughter, grandson, and great granddaughter.

She felt welcomed into her granddaughter-in-law’s family, and had many wonderful friends and family members who continued to call and visit.

Her husband preceded her in death in 2000.

Her parents are also deceased.

She is survived by her brother Charles Shelton Jones, and his wife Marilyn, and children Jane Bittle (Mac) and Dean Jones.

She is also survived by her daughter Susan Coffin and her husband Greg, and grandson Charlie Shelton Coffin and his wife Robbiann and their daughter Reegan.

There will be a get together in her memory at 5pm on Wednesday the 27th of February.
