Obituary: Wilhelm, Harold W.

Age 89

Harold Michael Wilhelm (Age 89) Harold M. Wilhelm passed away February 18, 2013 at the North Central Care Center in Spokane, from complications associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born September 25, 1923 in Redmond, Washington to Monica and Michael Wilhelm, and grew up in Dickenson, North Dakota.

Harold enlisted in the Marines in 1942 and served in the Pacific theater (Marshall Islands) and was awarded a Purple Heart.

Following the war, he completed training as a chiropractor at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon.

Following graduation he worked in Jerome, Idaho and then moved to Lewiston, Idaho where he started and worked in his own clinical practice for 40 years.

In 2008, Harold and his wife, Phyllis, moved to Spokane.

Harold was known to be a kind and gentle man, beloved by his family, friends and clients.

He had a remarkable talent as a handyman and could fix anything that was broken.

He had a steady hand and eye for detail.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis, children Rita Richards (Steve), David Wilhelm (Jan), Maria Welke (David), Tim Curtis (Marilyn), Kemp Curtis (Cheryl), Janine Curtis, Colleen Curtis (Joseph), and Kathie Monney.

He also has nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers.

Donations, in his memory, should be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

A funeral mass and lunch will be held at Assumption Catholic Church, 3624 W. Indian Trail Road, on March 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM, followed by military grave site service at 2:30 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery, 17825 East Trent.
