Two arrests in North Spokane attempted burglary

From staff reports
Two men were arrested late Sunday after Spokane police responded to a burglary in progress report at Action Recycling. Officers responding shortly before midnight saw two men running from the business at 911 E. Marietta Ave. After a short foot pursuit, Johnny R. Harris, 45, was taken into custody, a news release from the Spokane Police Department said. Officers found and arrested a second suspect, Billy J. Cochran, 31, nearby at Montgomery Avenue and Astor Street, the release said. Police said the men cut a hole in the business’s fence and were piling up wheels and car batteries to steal when they were spotted. Officers also recovered property that allegedly linked them to a burglary at 200 E. Montgomery, the release said. Harris and Cochran were both booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree burglary.
