Obituary: Lake, Kathryn

LAKE, Kathryn Kathryn May (Miller) Lake, 84, of Priest River ID, passed away February 22, 2013 in Spokane, WA.

Kathryn was the daughter of Joseph C. and Harriet J. Miller.

She was a dedicated wife, a loving mother, and a very proud grandmother and great-grandmother.

“Grandma Kate” was loved and adored by all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were so very important to her and who brought her great joy and fulfillment.

Kathryn was also a wonderful sister, aunt, godmother, friend, and so much more as can be attested by all who knew her well.

Born October 17, 1928 in Coeur d’Alene, ID, Kathryn graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Academy in 1946 and then attended North Idaho Junior College.

She married James F. (Jim) Lake on February 11, 1950 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Kellogg, ID.

Kathryn and Jim lived in Cataldo, ID until 1958 when they moved to Coeur d’Alene, ID.

In January 1970 they moved to Priest River, ID where they lived for the next 40+ years.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, James F. Lake, their six children: Nancy Owen (Ed), James R. Lake (Lori), George Lake (Colleen), Marilyn Aiken (Ron), Neal Lake (Teresa), Cecilia Steed (Matt), eighteen grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, one brother: Joseph C. Miller, Jr., five sisters: Francis Arnhold, Patricia Wuolle, Harriet Lawrence, and Clare LaCocq in addition to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her newborn daughter Margaret Jane, her parents, two sisters: Carolynne Jo Miller, Mary Ellen Guimond, two brothers: Oren L. Miller Sr. and James C. Miller, along with one nephew: Daniel J. Miller.

Services will be held at 11:00am Saturday March 2, 2013 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 919 E. Indiana Ave. in Coeur d’Alene, ID.
