Shapiro gave $170K

A person familiar with the situation says the NCAA’s allegations against Miami include at least $170,000 in impermissible benefits that former booster Nevin Shapiro provided to Hurricanes athletes, recruits and coaches between 2002 and 2010. The person says more than half of that money was related to Shapiro’s attempts to get NFL players Vince Wilfork and Antrel Rolle to sign with a sports agency. Neither Miami nor the NCAA has publicly released the allegations. In a 2011 story with Yahoo Sports, Shapiro estimated that he provided “millions of dollars” in extra benefits.
