Obituary: Hake, Howard L.

Age 80

HAKE, Howard L. (Age 80) Passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2012.

He was the youngest of six boys born to Ira and Ethyl Hake of Fall Creek, Oregon.

He graduated from Lowell Union High School, earned a baccalaureate degree from Northwest Christian College and completed a seminary degree at Drake University.

He served Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) in Nez Perce, Idaho, Iowa and Washington before attending the University of Nebraska where he completed a MSW.

He later completed a D.Min at San Francisco Theological Seminary.He worked for Lutheran Family Services and Family Counseling Service in Spokane before establishing a private practice in 1977 in counseling and psychotherapy in the Spokane Valley, where he worked until he retired in 1997.

Howard’s life reflected his love for God, his love and care for persons, and his commitment to kindness and encouragement.

He was a talented musician, gifted thinker and writer and had a wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by his beloved family - wife, Sandy Crowley, children, Shannie (Rick) Million, Connie (Bob) Borgen, Mike (Rebecca) Hake, Lyle (Vanessa) Hake, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and brothers George of Fall Creek, OR, Walt of Springfield, OR, and Harold of Gooding, ID.

A service will be held at Opportunity Christian Church 708 N. Pines Road, Spokane Valley on Saturday, January 5 at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Spokane Valley Partners or Hospice of Spokane.
