Obituary: O’Keefe, Nina M.

Age 96

O’KEEFE, Nina M. Nina Mary O’Keefe, 96, passed away on December 28, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Kennewick, Washington.

Nina was born in Locke, Washington, on April 20, 1916, to William and Ellen Heath.

She married Harold David O’Keefe on January 6, 1939, in Deer Park, Washington.

Nina worked as a waitress before staying home to raise her son and daughter.

Nina later retired from working as a cafeteria worker and cook at Rogers High School in Spokane.

Gardening, crocheting, sewing, and embroidery were Nina’s favorite things to do.

She also loved reading and taking care of her beloved cat, “Kitty.”

Nina is survived by a sister, Betty Miller; a brother, Ken Heath; a son, Sandy O’Keefe, and Sandy’s wife, Nina; a daughter, Linda Taylor, and Linda’s husband, Ken; three grandchildren-Dora (Kent), Shawn (Joy), Steven, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grand children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold; two sisters, Elsie and Dorothy; a brother, Bill; a grandson, Michael, and a great-grandson, Jacob.

Nina will be laid to rest next to her husband in Spokane.

All those who knew her will dearly miss her sweet disposition but take comfort in knowing that she is at peace.
